The Ellison Medical Institute is searching for a strategic and dynamic Senior Human Resources Manager to drive HR excellence and innovation. This key role will shape and optimize HR infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations across all core HR functions. Reporting to and working closely with the Head of People, you’ll lead the execution of HR strategies, oversee employee relations, and manage the HR Generalist while fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
As a trusted advisor to leadership, you’ll play a critical role in aligning HR strategies with business goals, enhancing employee engagement, and driving initiatives that empower our workforce.

- Identify and address gaps in HR infrastructure, proactively introducing solutions that strengthen core functions.
- Employee Relations & Workplace Culture:
- Act as the primary advisor on employee relations, delivering expert guidance on conflict resolution and workplace concerns.
- Work closely with the HR Generalist to ensure fair, proactive, and effective employee relations and performance management practices.
- Foster an inclusive and engaging workplace culture that promotes collaboration, well-being and professional growth.
- Talent & Total Rewards Optimization:
- Oversee job architecture and compensation frameworks, ensuring equitable, transparent, and competitive practices.
- Empower managers with the tools and insights needed for effective workforce planning, performance management, and employee development.
- Lead HR initiatives related to total rewards, including benefits, recognition programs, and career progress strategies.
- Collaboration & Organizational Impact:
- Act as a trusted HR partner, building strong cross-functional relationships to drive strategic people initiatives.
- Align HR programs with broader business objectives, ensuring seamless integration and meaningful impact.
- Support change management efforts, equipping teams to navigate transitions smoothly and embrace new HR programs.
- Drive collaboration across teams by bringing together the right people and resources for informed, people-first decision-making.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Masters preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong background in employee relations, compensation, and HR operations. 10+ years’ experience managing and developing HR teams.
- Proven track record of successfully building and implementing HR infrastructure and policies.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws, HR compliance, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of an organization.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, evolving organization is a plus.
