The Ellison Medical Institute seeks a talented and collaborative AI Research Engineer to join the AI and Advanced Molecular Medicine team in Los Angeles, California.

Job Accountabilities
- Research and develop ML/AI algorithms applicable to biomedical use cases
- Design, test, and run deep learning models for classification, segmentation, object detection, and related computer vision tasks using PyTorch and TensorFlow
- Experiment with algorithms, architectures, hyperparameters, and software systems, and communicate findings with the research team.
- Develop and maintain data processing pipelines and deployment systems
- Collaborate with scientists and data analysts to improve results based on biological context and clinical interpretations.
Additional Information
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of industry experience in bioinformatics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
- Experience with software development using Python, SQL, and/or Bash scripting
- Experience with building API libraries
- Knowledge of software engineering practices and tools: Git, IDEs, test methodologies, code management, versioning, and/or code documentation
- Experience in building data transformation and processing pipelines
- Experience with cloud computing resources including virtual machines, databases, and/or managed applications, as well as client-server architectures
- Experience in building ML/AI algorithms for computer vision applications using frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or scikit-learn
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Terraform
- Experience using image processing libraries in Python like scikit-image, OpenCV, matplotlib, PIL, or others
